About us

Wisla Delicatessen is built on tradition

Witold and Jolanta came to Canada in 1990, facing the same difficult beginnings many new immigrants experience. Witold started working as a sausage delivery driver for a company, and Jolanta soon joined him. Before long, they saw an opportunity to build something of their own. What began as deliveries for a company it had quickly into delivering the quality meat from vendors they had chosen. Their customers quickly recognized the quality — and the demand grew.

Built on Tradition

In 2001, they opened their own meat shop and proudly named it Wisla Delicatessen. They worked with the most traditional producers at the time, including Superior Sausage in Roncesvalles, offering high quality products at fair prices. Their approach was simple: keep quality high, keep prices reasonable.

As the business grew, they noticed the bakery market was changing. Too many breads were filled with additives and preservatives, and customers wanted something more natural. In 2009, they opened their own store and bakery focused on simple, traditional baking. Their breads and pastries are made without additives or preservatives. Each loaf is properly proofed using natural yeast for 24 hours, allowing the dough to develop its full flavour — including the true sourness of traditional bread.

We Chose to
Make Our Own

When Superior Sausage later closed, the Eastern European community lost a source of quality they had trusted for years. Witold and Jolanta faced an important decision — continue selling what was available, or make their own.

They chose to make their own.

After years of perfecting their methods, their smoked meats were finally brought into Wisla. Customers immediately embraced the rich, traditional smoked taste. It was a success from the very beginning.

Their philosophy has always remained the same:

Keep it simple. Keep it traditional. Keep it natural.

As more young Polish families began moving west across the GTA, Witold and Jolanta expanded to stay connected to their community. They opened another location in Milton, next to the Polish Credit Union, helping keep traditions alive for the next generation.

Today, Wisla Delicatessen continues to be a family business built on care, craftsmanship, and authenticity — offering food made the way it should be: simple, natural, and full of tradition.
